Wang Pingyi, male, Han nationality, born in Zhoukou City, Henan Province in May 1964, is a Doctor of Engineering, a professor, and a doctoral supervisor, worked in June 1993 and joined the Communist Party of China in December 1986. He is a vice president and a member of the Party Standing Committee.
　　He graduated from the Department of Hydraulic Engineering, Chengdu Electronic Technology University in June 1993, obtaining PhD in Engineering. He served successively as the deputy director, director and deputy secretary of the Port and Channel General Party Branch in Southwest Water Transport Engineering Science?Research?Institute, Chongqing Jiaotong University from June 1993 to September 1997; the director of Science and Technology Division, the executive vice chairman of Science & Technology Association, and the director of Graduate Division in Chongqing Jiaotong University from September 1997 to May 2006 (as an visiting scholar to University of Mississippi from September 2001 to September, 2002); the director of Graduate Division of Chongqing Jiaotong University since May 2006, also as the Secretary of General Party Branch of Graduate Division in March 2009; a vice president and a member of the Party Standing Committee of Chongqing Jiaotong University in January 2011, assisting the Party Secretary and the President in charge of enrollment and employment of students at all levels of the University and education management, in charge of Student Communities and University Students' Union; and coordinating the College of Applied Technology and the College of Continuing Education.
　　He has been engaged in teaching and research work for long term in fields of port and channel engineering, channel regulation theory and technology, hub navigation and hydraulic engineering and hydraulics, river sediment mathematical model, hydrological water resources and environmental engineering, with deep academic attainments. He has presided or directed over 40 national, ministerial, provincial and municipal level scientific research projects, obtained 4 provincial science and technology progress awards, 4 science and technology monographs published, 1 standard specification for the Department of Transportation; over 70 academic papers published, with over 20 papers included in the three major international retrieval systems. He’s in the first batch of national candidates of “New Century Talents Project”, and in the first level candidates of “Ten – Hundred – Thousand Talents Project” of the Department of Transportation, a top talent in science and technology of the Department of Transportation, in the first batch of academic leaders in Chongqing, and a professor-level consultant expert in hydraulic engineering in Chongqing, awarded with the special allowance of the State Council.
