Chongqing Jiaotong University Held the Opening Ceremony for the Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Program for Class 2020

On the afternoon of  November 13, 2020, the Opening Ceremony of the Chongqing Jiaotong University-Northumbria University Undergraduate Education Program of Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation for Class 2020 was held in Conference Room A01 127 at the Shuangfu Campus. Jon Reast, Vice Rector of Northumbria University, delivered a video message. Li Xiang and Xie Xiaoli, official representatives, Mao Mingyong, Director of the International Office and Dean of the International College of our university, Li Wei, Vice Dean of the School of Mechanotronics and Vehicle Engineering, Xu Houzhi, Vice Director of the International Office, Liu Jun, Director of the Student Affairs Office of the School of Mechanotronics and Vehicle Engineering, all students of class 2020 involved in the Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Program, and the students winning 2019 scholarships along with teacher representatives attended the opening ceremony.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Jon Reast, Vice Rector of Northumbria University, delivered avideo message extending his sincere greetings and warm welcome to the 2020 freshmen class of Chongqing Jiaotong University and Northumbria University. He also reviewed the partnership between Chongqing Jiaotong University and Northumbria University, as well as the history and development status of Northumbria University.

Laurent Dala, Dean of the School of Mechanical and Construction Engineering of Northumbria University, delivered a speech, saying: "Our schooling philosophy has always been creating and sharing new knowledge through independent research, and creating the best learning environment for students has always been our mission. We are looking forward to seeing you all in New castle, a friendly and vibrant city."

In addition, the conference also featured a promotional video detailing Northumbria University's infrastructure, transportation and studying atmosphere. In their speeches, Associate Professor Tang Wensheng and Fred Arias, the representatives of Chinese and foreign teachers, encouraged students to have a better plan about study and life and a clear life direction. And as a front-line teaching team, the teachers will help and lead every student. Song Jianuo, the representative of the freshmen class, expressed his expectation of university life in his speech. While encouraging himself, he also gave encouragement to the students, saying that he would spend more time on study in the future, make a clear planand live a full and meaningful university life.
