From March 28 to 30, The 9th International Conference on Energy and Environmental Science (ICEES 2025), co-hosted by Chongqing Jiaotong University and Chongqing University, was held in a “online-offline” format, attracting over 300 participants from academia, industry, and institutions worldwide, including China, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and beyond. The conference was co-chaired by Professor Dong Lili (Chongqing Jiaotong University), Professor Ding Yong (Chongqing University), Professor Cheol Soo Park (Seoul National University, South Korea), and Professor Sergio Altomonte (KU Leuven, Belgium).
The event commenced with an opening ceremony hosted by Professor Mao Mingyong, Director of the International Office at Chongqing Jiaotong University. Professor Yang Shengfa, Vice President of Chongqing Jiaotong University, delivered a welcome address, emphasizing the critical role of energy and environmental science in addressing global sustainability challenges. Professor Ding Yong, Conference Co-Chair from Chongqing University, followed with an overview of the conference’s objectives.
This conference established an esteemed collaborative framework for global energy and environmental science scholars, substantially enhancing multilateral academic exchange and cross-border knowledge dissemination. Confronting the unprecedented intensification of global energy consumption patterns and compounding ecological crises, the proceedings rigorously emphasized the indispensability of a tripartite framework encompassing interdisciplinary collaboration, technological innovation, and policy formulation to propel sectoral advancement. In its future iterations, the ICEES conference will perpetuate its institutional commitment to synergizing theoretical inquiry with applied research paradigms, thereby generating actionable knowledge systems and evidence-based solutions to the global sustainable development goals.
